PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
The purpose of this Unit Standard is to enable learners to apply basic health and safety legislation in the form of standards and procedures governing health and safety in the workplace, to ensure that they contribute to a safe, healthy environment for themselves and others. |

UNIT STANDARD RANGE |
1. Implications of exposure to hazardous substances and hazards include reference to a possible chain of events that could result from not removing, reducing or reporting a hazard. 2. A health and safety program includes hazard identification, risk assessment and a health and safety plan. 3. Statutory requirements include current national regulations applicable to construction, including acts and regulations, ordinances, by-laws, directives, standards, guidelines, and codes, issued by a legislative body such as parliament, provincial administrations, local authorities and other bodies so empowered by any of the former. 4. Regarding Acts and Regulations, all pertinent national legislation is included. |
